Online Adjunct Faculty Job Openings Are Not Easy But They Work

There can be no doubt on the part of college teachers that teaching at the postsecondary academic level is hard work, but it is rewarding work in the sense that it is a legitimate venue for intellectual activity. The problem today, however, with college teaching at traditional colleges and universities is that the administrators are not paying college faculty members, the vast majority of whom are teaching on adjunct basis, a living wage for that intellectual activity in a physical college classroom. The result is that adjunct college teachers are barely getting by, and if they happen to live in a an area with low population they are limited to a mere handful of college classes they can teach at any one time since it is necessary to actually be on a physical college or university campus in order to teach college students.

A very interesting solution to this dilemma is to begin teaching online for a variety of accredited online bachelor degree programs and accredited online master degree programs. The intellectual labor required of online adjunct instructors is just as demanding as that required of a college teachers in the physical college classroom, but with a focused application of technical skills online adjunct teaching positions simply pay better because it is possible to acquire more online college classes in the online teaching schedule that is to acquire physical college classrooms to teach in everyday. So it is true that online adjunct faculty job openings are not easy, but they work to the distinct advantage of the online college professor.

Today’s college students are actually eager to attend accredited online college degree programs that provide them with the opportunity to earn an online mathematics degree, an online bachelor degree in accounting or in online RN to BSN degree from their personal computers at home and at work. What’s more, as the for-profit colleges that were the bachelor degree online in the online master degree have amply demonstrated over the last decade, college students approve of the online college classes and their online degree programs being offered throughout the summer.

The college instructor teaching a traditional postsecondary academic institution on an adjunct basis should take sharp note of the preferences of the college students. After all, the college students are enrolling in community colleges, technical schools, state colleges, four-year universities and for-profit colleges in larger numbers in any time since the middle of the twentieth century.

This means that the academic labor market is growing by leaps and bounds, and there is no indication at this time that the enrollment of new and returning college students is slowing down to any significant level. If the distance education trends continue upward, the individual with a Ph.D. or masters degree, an earned graduate degree, can certainly acquire a full-time online teaching schedule by applying to multiple online college degree programs that offer their students the online masters degree in school counseling or a health administration degree online, to mention but two of a multitude of online college degrees that can be earned from an individual’s personal computer today. So, while it is accurate to say that online adjunct faculty job openings are not easy, it is just as accurate to say that they work for the college instructor who wants to learn how to be an online adjunct instructor.
