Online Faculty Openings Allow Teachers to Live Out a Dream

It is hard for an adjunct college instructor teaching at a physical postsecondary academic institution today to dream of a better future. After all, there doesn’t seem to be any intention on the part of the college and university administrators to make college teaching, at least on adjunct faculty level, economically viable since the pay for teaching in a physical college classroom never seems to go up. In fact, since these administrators are apparently dead-set on firing as many adjunct faculty members as possible as the academic year progresses, the result is that the remaining adjunct faculty is required to teach more and more college students for same amount of money. As if this were not bad enough, there is never even a hint that any time that a retirement package for health benefits will be forthcoming since the economy refuses to improve.

There is another way, however, for an individual with a doctorate or masters degree to actually earn a decent living from the intellectual labor involved in teaching college students. Online bachelor degree programs and accredited online master degree programs are so popular with today’s new and returning college students that the online college classes within the accredited online college degree programs means that online faculty openings allow teachers to actually live out a dream.

Becoming an online adjunct instructor and acquiring an online teaching schedule full of online college courses is difficult at first, but with practice it becomes much easier to locate accredited online college degree programs and make an application to teach online for a particular for-profit college, state college, community college or four year university. Further, as time goes on it will come more and more apparent that new and returning college students actually walked to learn a bachelor of science in business administration online, an online special education degree or an accredited online accounting degree by using the personal electronic devices.

Of course, this growing popularity with distance education technology provides the adjunct college teacher with the opportunity to increase the online adjunct income from teaching in these online degree courses from an inexpensive laptop computer. While there are some differences between teaching in a physical college classroom and teaching online, the benefits of online teaching far outweigh the negative elements associated with trying to earn a living as a traditional college adjunct on a physical college or university campus.

The primary benefit of taking online is an online adjunct instructor is that the online adjunct jobs allow the individual with a graduate degree to be mobile. A traditional college instructor working on adjunct basis on a physical campus is anchored by geographic restrictions. In other words, a college teacher laboring in a physical college classroom must be able to physically arrive in the classroom in order to teach. While this may seem obvious at first, this geographic requirement demands glaring limits on the ability of the traditional college teacher to acquire more college classes in the traditional teaching schedule. After all, if the college teacher cannot travel to the campus, the college students can’t be taught and there is no additional income for the college teacher. An online college instructor has no such geographic restrictions. It is possible for a technically adroit online adjunct college professor to teach for multiple accredited online degree programs and accredited online master degree programs that are hundreds or thousands of miles away on location of the online college teacher. It is exactly these circumstances that allow online college teachers with the ability to find and acquire online faculty openings to live out an intellectual dream.
